The Purchase
Dec. 3, 2010 -- I wanted high quality hair. However, I knew I would not want to use the same hair for multiple installs. So, I decided to get something mid-range that would look good for the 2 months I kept it in. My boyfriend and I went to A's Beauty Supply in Huntsville, AL. We browsed around for a few minutes before a Guy asked to assist us. I told him I was looking to get Remy hair for the first time. He showed us several options. We looked at them, and ran our fingers through them. I asked him about Milky Way Saga Gold. But, the Guy said it wasn't worth buying, and didn't even take it off the wall. So, I ultimately decided on 12 inches of Janet Collection Prestige Remy Yaki in 1B. I also wanted to look for a silk night cap. So, the Guy said he'd hold the hair at the counter while we looked around. We finally went back up to the counter, and I paid $144.70 for the two packs. All seemed well...
The Install
Dec. 4, 2010 --I went to my morning appointment at Angela's in Madison, AL. I got my hair washed, and blow-dried. Then, it was braid in a circle around my head, and a net was sewn on top of the braids. As Angela began sewing the tracks onto the net, I got worried! From the first track, the hair was tangling. And from the amount of force she was using to comb it back out, it was tangling bad! I also noticed the hair was further down my back than I expected. I always get 12 inches, and it never seemed that long. But, I just let her keep installing it (bad idea). So, she worked through the first pack, and moved on to the second. Surprise! The hair was at least a 2; possibly a 4. And it was significantly shorter than the other pack. Both of the packs said 1B. Neither had a length on them. This is where I learned to ALWAYS check inside the pack of hair before leaving the store. I am now highly pissed. But, she said it would look good, and I let her keep installing it (again bad idea). After sewing on most of the hair (had a little left in the second pack), she cuts bangs straight across. Then, closure the top by pushing the weft in, applying some kind of black stuff, and pressing it with the hot iron. I paid $120.00 plus a $10.00 tip. Bottom line, I settled for something I wasn't happy with. And that irks me to this day.
A's Beauty Supply: I will never go there again. And I would not recommend them. I don't think the mix-up was intentional. But, it was very unprofessional. There are too many options to risk money at a place like that.
Angela's: I would go there again. But, not for a sew-in. I may or may not recommend her. Overall, I do like her, and her shop.
Janet Collection Prestige: If I felt like taking a risk, I would try it again. Only because there is a chance that I didn't actually have this hair due to A's mix up. I would not recommend it.

Yay, first post!
So, I got inspired by BHM (forum.blackhairmedia.com) to care more about my hair (real and fake). I decided to do a review of the sew-in weave I currently have, but realized it was kind of long/picture heavy for a forum post. I also realized that I wanted to broadcast and interact more than what a forum thread would allow. And... here I am!
I do web development, so I started to make my own theme from scratch... But, got bored and gave up, lol. So this is my edit of the "Simple Theme".
